Poem: “Auras and the Serpent” 2021

--

“Serpent Seduces Eve” — Walter Crane

I’m full of undulations,

Writhings, and desires,

Silk ribbons upon naked skin.

My aura is green and purple today:

It’s been hiding so long

I thought I might be dead.

I think about what your aura is like,

Sparkling from your eyes,

Pressing in the distance,

Dazzling to behold,

A feat of concentration,

Melodious and bold.

Your hand upon my hip,

My heart beating to your grip,

I think about your love

And the gods up above.

Today I am sunshine,

A fire opal, pink quintessence,

Blushing sweetness,

Playing in my window,

Tangled in gauze,

And I dream to pluck peach kisses

Twisted from the tree

From which the snake hisses

Sacred mystery.

*I’m not a snake worshiper, but sometimes, as with definitions, the most common symbolic association isn’t what will do.
